The RIFT in Zone 37 is a rare and extremely dangerous phenomenon, born from violent distortions of time and space caused by the zone’s immense energy surges. It exists only for a limited duration, like a fracture in the very fabric of reality, and during that brief window, PMCs, stalkers, and artifact hunters rush inside, hoping to uncover treasures beyond imagination.
Yet once within, they quickly realize that survival itself becomes the true prize — in a place where physics collapses, time flows unpredictably, and the very ground threatens to consume the careless. Artifacts and items from the RIFT are considered the rarest and most perilous of all, their value often outweighing human life itself.
Over time, survival within the RIFT itself became regarded as an achievement. Private military companies began awarding special ranks and medals to those who endured its horrors, turning survival into a mark of prestige. The higher the rank, the greater the value of such a fighter in Zone 37 — both as a seasoned survivor and as a symbol of experience in facing the impossible.
